EXPERIENCE AN AUTHENTIC TASMANIAN ADVENTURE
FIRST LEG – ST COLUMBA FALLS
Picking you up from your accommodation, it’s time to begin our journey to the fertile valleys of the Weldborough and Pyengana region to sample some of the best dairy produce in all of Tasmania.
SECOND LEG – THE BLUE TIER GIANT
Once you’ve had your fill, we will get back on the road briefly to visit the falls that never stops, St. Columba Falls. Said to be the location of many Tasmanian Tiger sightings this ancient valley of man ferns plays host to a tranquil spot allowing you to stroll the valley whilst enjoying a freshly prepared morning tea.
THIRD LEG – GETTING COSY
We leave the beautiful green hills behind and start our journey inland over the undulating bushy hills and through the valleys of the Blue Tier of the North East Highlands. Nestled in amongst the forest of musk, myrtle, mosses and Fern Trees is a giant Eucalyptus Regnans. Said to be the tallest flower plant in the world, the ‘Blue Tier Giant’ is 19.4m in girth and would take 15 adults to wrap their arms all the way around it!
FOURTH LEG – BINALONG BAY & BOAT HARBOUR POINT
With so much still left to see, we return to the vehicle and resume our direction to the coast through Lottah visiting the old Anchor Stamp mine site and beautiful sweeping pastures of Gould’s Country.
FIFTH LEG – THE ORIGIN OF THE BAY OF FIRES
The next stop is the picturesque Bay of Fires (or Larapuna to give it it’s Aboriginal name) a region of stunning sugar-white beaches, clear blue water and orange-hued granite, the bay was named in 1773 by Captain Tobias Furneaux. Approaching the bay on his ship Adventure, Captain Furneaux believed the bays themselves were ablaze. As he got closer to shore it became apparent that it was in fact Aboriginal camp fires lining the shore, but fortunately the name stuck! Here you’ll be surrounded by beach perfection from The Gardens, Swimcart Beach and Jeanneret Beach nearby. Set on the sands of Cosy Corner your personal chef prepares a cooked meal and dinning arrangement while you sip on Tasmanian wine and craft beer.
SIXTH LEG – HOMEWARD BOUND
We continue our exploration of the Bay of Fires, driving through the picturesque Binalong Bay and on to Boat Harbour Point. Here we will hop out of the 4×4 to fully appreciate this idyllic setting reflecting back on the days adventure.
The route home hugs the Tasman coast, providing you with one last chance to take in the stunning views before we drop you back at your accommodation.
