Although born in Sydney, Jarrod re-located to Tasmania in 1981 when he was three years old and considers himself very much connected to Tasmania! Growing up, he moved around the western parts of the island with his ther, a hydro-superintendent, his mother, a medical nurse and his two sisters. His childhood was spent with the mountains and lakes surrounding Strathgordon, Tullah and Sheffield as his backyard. It was here that he first discovered his love for the Tasmanian flora and una, forging his own tracks to the mountain peaks and fishing for the mysterious trout. Soon thereafter he would be exploring the remote south and east coast stretches of coastline in search of rideable surf breaks. It was these early experiences that helped shape the man he is today and formed his approach to life, which amounts to “get outside and play!”

Jarrod is incredibly passionate about Tasmania and is genuine in his quest to showcase the best that the island has to offer. He firmly believes that there is no better time to be involved with tourism in the region, and he is dedicated to helping preserve the natural surroundings and creating a sustainable future for all to enjoy. So r he has had small successes within the tourism industry since starting Tiger Adventure Tours with a final place within the Great Eastern Driver Awards 2018 alongside the acclaimed Australian Tourism Accreditation Program. Which announces to visitors that he is serious about his business in delivering a premium service and that Tiger Adventure Tours Tasmania meets the industry standards set by the ATAP.

He has also had an appearance on Australia’s channel 10 with segments on Whats Up Down Under where the well-known presenters Macca and Robbyn are shown around the east coast on one of their mous tours. This can be seen here. Be sure to check it out.

In his previous life, Jarrod was an accomplished chef with a career spanning more than 20 years. Beginning in Tasmania, Jarrod had stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Gold Coast and Perth before working his way back to his beloved Tasmania. Indeed, his love for authentic Tasmanian produce and products was one of the main reasons that Jarrod always planned on returning to his favoured land.

Away from Tiger Adventure Tours, Jarrod is married to Liz, a Frenchwoman with tourism experience of her own. She joined her husband to settle in beautiful Bicheno and made a big switch to a more “down to earth” lifestyle, enjoying wide open spaces, walking her beloved border collie, Lil, and 4 wheel driving wherever her husband would decide to take her. Passionate about history, Liz was very happy to find a deep French connection on the other side of the world. As she discovers Tasmania’s past more and more everyday, her admiration never ceases to stop for those locals who found a will and a way to make a living on this beautiful and wild island.

“I always look forward to working behind the scenes in preparation for our tours to be enjoyed at their fullest. I truly hope our visitors will experience this amazing sense of freedom I felt when Jarrod took me on my first road trip on Tasmania’s east coast.”
